Jaipur, the capital of rajasthan state, was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II on 18th November 1727. Jaipur is also popularly known as the pink city. The city was painted pink under the rule of Sawai Ram Singh, to welcome the Prince of Wales. This decree is visible even today all over the city and the residents too have to follow it. Jaipur city’s rich heritage dates back to the time when it was formed. Even as early as the 1700s, jaipur became the first planned city of India. It was planned according to indian vastu shastra by a bengali architect name vidyadhar bhattacharya.
